Aaaaah, herbal tea! What a beautiful way to warm up in the winter, stay hydrated and sneak in a few extra nutrients. There are wonderful tea houses popping up all over including my favorite Verdant Tea http://verdanttea.com/ in Minneapolis. If you buy tea in bulk, you can make your own combinations. Here are some of my favorites:
Chamomile tea has a sweet taste, and you might detect a hint of apple. It is a good source of Magnesium, and it’s soothing properties make it a nice choice in the evening.
Mint leaf soothes the digestive track. It is especially helpful for heartburn, indigestion and nausea.
Raspberry leaf tea is great for skin and balancing female hormones. It is a good source of magnesium, potassium and B-vitamins. Herbalists often recommend Raspberry leaf tea to women suffering from infertility, PCOS and endometriosis.
Try these blends or make your own:
To Bed, To Bed, To Bed I Said Blend
1 tsp chamomile
1 tsp mint
1 tsp catnip
Lavender Tea Blend
1/2 cup mint
2 Tbs. dried lavender
Combine and store in an airtight container. Use 1-2 tsp per 1 cup of water.
You can use an infuser of a loose leaf tea bag like these http://amzn.to/1aoR2iE to brew your tea.
