If this is your first cleanse (or your fiftieth), you probably have questions. That’s good! We’re here to help. Take a look at some of the questions we frequently hear below. But don’t be afraid to give us a call at 612-240-2274 or send us an email – we love getting into the juicy details!
Juice cleanses are a great way to kick start a cleaner way of living for any healthy adult – male or female, gym rat or yogi, CEO or stay at home parent. The Juice Works cleanses are a simple, delicious way to nourish and purify your body while flooding your system with natural, energy-rich nutrients and enzymes – leaving you leaner, more energetic and with a clean house for a new way of living.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding have very specific and important nutrition needs and shouldn’t undertake any major dietary changes, such as a juice cleanse.
If you have a medical condition or are taking any medications, be sure check with your healthcare professional before starting any cleanse.
That depends on what fits best into your lifestyle. A 5-day cleanse is a powerful introduction to clean living, allowing your body to shed toxins and start healing and rebuilding. A 10-day cleanse is a more intense experience that takes that process even further. Long story short, the longer you cleanse, the better you feel. So choose what feels right for you, right now.
Of course, our greatest hope is that this isn’t simply an occasional or one-time 5, 10 or 30-day adventure but the introduction of some new daily clean living habits!
While 3 days can be a good jump-start to a cleaner body, we believe 3 days is too short to begin the process of rebuilding and healing. Your body needs a few days to simply adjust to the detox process. By day 4, most people really start to feel good as their body kicks in to creating a strong environment for a new, cleaner way of living.
The fact is, the longer you live the detox lifestyle, the better you’ll feel. We often suggest eliminating foods that are difficult to digest at least a few days prior to starting your cleanse. For a list of these foods, check out our blog
While our juices aren’t certified organic, we strive to use 100% organic vegetables whenever possible.
Because our juice is fresh-pressed to order and never frozen, we currently deliver to the Twin Cities metro area and surrounding communities. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule so if you’re outside of the Twin Cities area, just give us a call and we’ll put our heads together for a great Juice Works solution.
Our vegetable juice is fresh-pressed to order. It’s never frozen, never processed, contains absolutely no preservatives. To make sure you get the most nutritional bang for your buck, always keep your juice refrigerated and drink the juice within 3 days of delivery.
We sure hope so! Our customers consistently tell us just how delicious our fresh-pressed juice tastes. But keep in mind that our juice is 100% vegetable juice and may take some getting used to. The green juice is unapologetically green, but the touch of ginger, spritz of lemon and romaine goodness help to remove the bitterness.
If you’ve been eating processed or artificially flavored foods and beverages for a long time, the juice will definitely taste different (and that’s a good thing!).
Yes. That?s part of the cleansing process. Treat it as a learning experience and keep in mind that you are not starving yourself. Rather, you are changing your habits. The first 3 days are a challenge. By day 4, you should feel more comfortable with your hunger and recognize that it is only temporary. When hunger does strike, take a moment to acknowledge it. Sit with it. Then drink a glass of water slowly; the hunger will pass shortly.
But we’re big believers in listening to your body. Be smart. If it gets too uncomfortable or if you’re feeling ill, have some raw vegetables and drink some extra water.
Break out your biology text books for this one, folks. While fruit is very cleansing for a clean body, many people are carrying around too-high levels of yeast – the organism that high-in-natural-sugar fruits like to feed on – thanks to high acidity and exposure to environmental estrogens. A juice cleanse rids your body of those toxins along with excess yeast, likely leading to weight loss, less bloat, improved mood and a glowing complexion.
When exposed to high heat, the molecular structure of oils changes, pouring free radicals into the body and making it even more difficult to metabolize them.
Unlike oil, butter retains its molecular structure when sautéed or baked. Butter is also less dense than oil, therefore more easily digestible.
You don’t have to put life on hold just because you’re doing a cleanse. Restaurants can be extremely accommodating. With a little preplanning you can stay on track for a successful cleanse.
Here are some tips for eating out during a juice cleanse:
Let the server know that you are on a cleanse and you have a few foods that you are avoiding. Order salad with lemon, steamed greens and a simple entrée like poached salmon, baked squash or baked sweet potato. Keep it simple! Sip on water or herbal tea throughout the meal. Have fun!
Put simply: No. You’re reducing your input, so your output will naturally decrease. Just be sure to stay hydrated with water and herbal tea in between your juices to keep things running smoothly. To help the toxin elimination process, you may want to consider scheduling a colonic with a reputable colon hydrotherapist or a home enema.
Absolutely! Exercise is a great way to support the cleansing process. We recommend sticking to your regular activity routine or trying a restorative practice such as yoga, pilates or Gyrotonic® (check out our sister business, Minnesota Movement Arts Studio, for some amazing classes!). If you’re planning on a challenging workout, you may even find you have more energy with an empty stomach. For an extra, natural boost of energy, you may want to try adding a spoonful of raw honey or chlorophyll to your cleanse routine.
But repeat after us: Listen to your body. That’s the key to a successful cleanse and lasting health. It’s also the way to judge how far your body can go. Some days, rest can be as powerful a purifier as sweat.
Probably. Many people lose between five and eleven pounds in the first five days. But just as bodies vary, so does weight loss.
It’s up to you. Some people feel best with a monthly 5-day cleanse. Others prefer taking it on every few months. Still others challenge themselves to one 30-day cleanse each year. If you allow yourself to simply slow down and listen to your body, it will tell you what’s right for you.
